The Rockingham County Collection Division is responsible for the collection of all current and delinquent property taxes for Rockingham County, the City of Eden, City of Reidsville, Town of Madison, Town of Mayodan, Town of Stoneville and 20 rural fire districts.

Online Credit Card or Debit Card Payments

Click view tax bill and proceed to "add this bill to my payment cart" at bottom of page. You may pay as many bills as you choose by creating a "Payment Cart". This service is offered to our taxpayer payers by CC payment service.

Online Internet ReceiptsClick Tax Bill Search and follow instructions to search by name, location, account number, bill number or parcel number. Paid accounts will be shown with a green status. Click view tax bill. A computer generated tax bill (for display purposes only) will show a $0.00 total due if paid in full. Receipts for prior years can be found by clicking "Transaction History".
Online Personal Banking
If your bank account allows online bill pay service you are welcome to use this convenience when paying your property tax. However, in order to ensure proper credit to your tax account, you must use the account or owner id shown on your tax statement. It is very important when setting up your account online to use our address at P.O. Box 68, Wentworth, NC 27375-0068. This is to ensure your payment is applied in a timely fashion. When you use our Charlotte address you must submit the original coupon with your payment.
Payment by Phone
You may pay your bill by phone using your credit or debit card. Dial 1-866-251-3264. Have your bill available and follow the instructions. A convenience fee will be charged to you based on the amount of your bill. This fee is a third party processing fee charged by the vendor offering this service.
This is a voluntary program for real property only. A prepayment is best described as any payment made during the time frame January to July, prior to the tax bill being mailed in August. You may pay any payment amount of your choice during this time. After the tax bills are mailed you may continue making payments but please understand your property taxes must be paid in full no later than January 5th.
Direct Payment Options
Simply return the payment with the coupon, in the envelope enclosed with your bill. This payment will be processed by our bill processing center in Charlotte, NC. The money is electronically transferred to us immediately upon processing and a credit is applied to your account. Please note that if you fail to include your coupon, your payment will be delayed in processing.
Returned Check Fees
Please note - the Rockingham County Tax Collector does accept payments by check or electronic (online). If payment fails to clear the bank you will be charged a penalty of $25.00 or 10% of the amount of the check or electronic invoice, whichever is greater. See NCGS 105-357(b)(2)
Delinquent Collection Remedies
Pursuant to NCGS 105-113.78 each person who obtains a permit from the State Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission to sell alcoholic beverages - malt beverages, fortified and unfortified wines must purchase a local ABC License to engage in that business. The application reflects those along with the annual fee for each.
In accordance with NCGS 105-361 Individuals, Attorneys or any persons having a legal interest in a property may request certain information. The Certification furnishes a statement of taxes and special assessments due. If you wish to use this process please submit where you want the certification returned to.
Mobile home moving permits are issued by the Rockingham County Tax Department. NCGS 105-316.1 through 105-316.8 - If you are in need of a Mobile Home moving permit you will need to make sure all taxes are paid in the name of the owner of the mobile home. The permit will not be issued until all taxes are paid in full. Certain information is required in order to obtain the permit - name and address of the owner - the address/location of the mobile home at this time – the address/location to where the mobile home is to be moved - the name and address of the carrier who is moving the mobile home - the make, model, size and serial number of the mobile home. You must come into the Rockingham County Tax Department to obtain this permit.
